Eating cruciferous vegetables may improve breast cancer survival

Cruciferous vegetables include cabbage, broccoli, kale, cauliflower... The consumption of these vegetables  was associated with a reduced risk for total mortality, breast cancer mortality and disease recurrence among women diagnosed with breast cancer stage 1 to 4. Apparently, as women ate more of these vegetables their survival rate increased. This was attributed to the presence of phytochemicals (chemical compounds that occur naturally in plants) that appear to have a protective effect against some types of cancer.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. Based on the findings of this study, breast cancer survivors can benefit from a diet rich in cruciferous vegetables and it might decrease their risk of cancer recurrence and even death.

Always keep in mind that food is our best medicine for all ills
